Member of the United National Movement Eka Kherkheulidze says that imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili is working on an economic programme in Rustavi prison No.12.
Kheurkheulidze claims that Saakashvili is ‘politically fit’ despite ‘inhuman treatment’ in prison.
“Saakashvili thinks that the current economic situation in Georgia is alarming,” Kherkheulidze said.
Saakashvili was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1 after eight years in political exile.
He claims he returned to help the opposition remove the Georgian Dream government from power.
The third president is now serving his six-year sentence for abuse of power; he was convicted in absentia back in 2018.
Saakashvili currently holds Ukrainian citizenship.
