The United National Movement (UNM) opposition MP Roman Gotziridze says that India’s exports to Russia have resumed and that Georgian ports are used for this.

India is reported to resume exports of goods including tea, rice, fruits, coffee and marine products to Russia last week.

The international media reports that banks led by Russia’s largest lender, Sberbank, are facilitating settlement of bilateral trade moving largely through ports in Georgia.

“These goods are not sanctioned, but when Russian ships and cars are not allowed into Europe, Georgia becomes a possibility to circumvent  sanctions or escape difficulties for Russia.  difficulties. At least we are dealing with moral responsibility,” Gotsiridze posted on Facebook.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

Tbilisi says that it stands by Ukraine and that the country’s territory will in no case be used by Russia to circumvent sanctions imposed on it for its aggression in Ukraine.
