The supporters and members of the United National Movement, the largest opposition group in the country in power between 2004-2012, and locals in the village of Chorvila, in western Georgia, the home village of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former Prime Minister and the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday clashed during the rally.
The rally was organised by Sopho Japaridze, the representative of the currently imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili, and aimed at “reminding Ivanishvili”, whom they call a “shadow ruler”, that the party “would not allow” the country’s “Russification”.
The law enforcement are present at the scene.
