The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party has no plans to address the priorities set by the European Commission to receive the candidate status by the end of the year. The GD’s 12-point plan to meet the criteria is misleading the public and lingering time, the United National Movement (UNM) MP Roman Gotsiridze said Wednesday.
He suggested that the opposition “will not follow the ruling party on the path,” and would instead propose its plans.
“The opposition will offer its own plan to the ruling team and the public, which is real and aims for quick implementation of some of the issues,” Gotsiridze said, stating that the plan would include the approval of electoral constitutional changes.
“The government’s plan is not serious, which sounds like this: first depolarization and then the rest… The presence of other issues causes polarization,” said the MP.
The GD says that the first point of the European Commission recommendations, which concerns easing polarization, would not be met without the opposition’s will.
