Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement opposition party, on Wednesday said it was important for a lot of people to rally at a demonstration on December 3 in support of imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili.

In his comments Khabeishvili, who is running for the party chair, welcomed the decision of incumbent head of the UNM Nika Melia to attend the rally.

“It is very good that Melia made a statement that he will probably be at this rally”, Khabeishvili said.

“We have one message, that his [Saakashvili’s] health and life should be protected and he should be transported abroad for treatment”, he said.

The rally is scheduled at 15:00 in front of the Georgian Dream ruling party headquarters in Tbilisi.
