Ana Tsitlidze, a member of the United National Movement opposition party, on Monday said she would continue her hunger strike in a bid to force the authorities to transfer imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili abroad for treatment.

“From today’s point of view, even for the fiercest opponents of Zviad Gamsakhurdia [the first president of Georgia], knowing Gamsakhurdia and his rhetoric was not worth the hell the country went through. That’s why the government should think about the historical responsibility, the hatred they live in, and retribution against Saakashvili is something they will definitely be ashamed of. The demands do not change – to save the life of president Saakashvili, I continue this form of protest”, said Tsitlidze.

The MP has been on hunger strike for 12 days.
