About 30 Georgian nationals remain stranded in Sudan amid violent clashes between the country’s military and the paramilitary group for power that has left about 100 dead and hundreds injured since Saturday.
The Georgian foreign ministry officials on Monday said Tbilisi was in “close coordination” with the UN office and the country’s foreign partners to ensure the creation of a humanitarian corridor and the “safe evacuation” of Georgian citizens.
They said due to ongoing clashes, holding talks with any of the sides involved in the conflict was impossible, and added they were waiting for the calming down of the situation “a bit”.
The body said the Georgian nationals had been warned not to leave their temporary accommodations.
