European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a phone conversation with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, expressing concern over the situation in Georgia following the recent elections.

In a post on social media, von der Leyen stated that “the situation following the elections remains concerning,” emphasizing the need for decisive action from Georgia’s leadership to maintain its EU alignment.

“If Georgia wants to keep a strategic orientation towards the EU, we need concrete actions from the leadership,” von der Leyen remarked, referencing the recent EU enlargement report as a guide for Georgia’s path forward.
