US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said on Monday that “it is 100 percent  Russian disinformation that the US wants to drag Georgia in the war.”

While in Adjara region of western Georgia, Degnan stated that she could not speak about the statements of the Prime Minister of Georgia, but noted that she did not know anyone in the country wishing this.

“When I hear that the US is working against Georgia and trying to drag Georgia into the war and open a second front, it is 100 percent  Russian disinformation and completely untrue.

The US did everything it could to prevent this war from happening. We do not want to see Georgia involved in this war at all,” Degnan said.

She suggested that the European Union and NATO were organizations that ensure security, stability and peace.

“The Euro-Atlantic space is the guarantor and this is exactly what the Georgian people want, so we are committed to Georgia’s aspirations,” the ambassador told reporters.

The representatives of the Georgian government, including the Prime Minister, have stated many times that certain forces want to drag Georgia in Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The authorities have openly accused the United National Movement of this, calling it a “War Party.”
