US Congressman Joe Wilson has strongly condemned the reported physical assaults on former Georgian Prime Minister and now opposition leader Giorgi Gakharia and journalist Zviad Koridze, describing the incidents as part of a broader crackdown by the Georgian government on those advocating for democratic reforms.

“I unequivocally condemn the Ivanishvili regime’s assault on former PM Giorgi Gakharia and Zviad Koridze. More and more, the regime is physically attacking those calling for free and fair elections,” Wilson stated on his official X account.

The congressman emphasized that the United States is closely monitoring developments in Georgia and assured that action would be taken in response to the rising political violence. “America sees it, and we will take action. The Georgian people will not be intimidated,” he added.
