US embassy: Georgia’s independence result of courage, unity, relentless effort, boundless love

The US embassy to Georgia has congratulated Georgia on its Day of Independence today, stating that the country’s first independence day was a “grand celebration”, stressing that May 26 was a result of “courage, unity, relentless effort, and boundless love for the country.” 

“Despite the Soviet regime’s attempts throughout seventy years, the Georgian people maintained the legacy of Georgia’s First Republic and strive to implement its ideals to this day. Each May 26 is a celebration of these achievements and Georgian’s fierce love for their freedom.Happy Independence Day, Georgia!” said the embassy. 

US President Joe Biden also congratulated Georgians in a letter sent to the country’s prime minister.
