US Embassy: this month, we remind LGBTQI+ community that they are loved, cherished

This month, we remind the LGBTQI+ community that they are loved and cherished, the US Embassy to Georgia stated on Wednesday.

“The United States sees you for who you are – deserving of dignity, respect, and support.  Today and every day, the United States stands with every LGBTQI+ person worldwide in the ongoing struggle against intolerance, discrimination, and injustice,” siad the embassy.

On the first day of the Tbilisi Pride Week on Tuesday, the screening of Elene Naverian’s film was held at the Club Bridge in the Georgian capital amid protests by ultranationalist and pro-Russian organizations, as well as clergy.

Police needed large manpower and iron dams to ensure the safety of the Pride participants.

The “Pride Week” was scheduled between June 28 and July 2.

The Pride events last year left dozens of journalists injured as far-right activists attacked them.
