The US says that Russia has sent additional 7,000 troops to the Ukrainian border despite claims that it was withdrawing after ‘military drills,’ CNN has cited an US official as saying.

The US says that Russa’s assertion of pulling back seems to be false and warned Moscow’s public openness was a guise.

“Every indication we have now is they mean only to publicly offer to talk, and make claims about de-escalation, while privately mobilizing for war,” the official said.

Russia has demanded ‘security guarantees’ from the US and NATO, including the refusal by the alliance to add Georgia and Ukraine as new members in the future.

More than 100,000 Russian troops are currently assembled at the Ukrainian border, making threats of a war.
