The US State Department has expressed serious concerns regarding the recent parliamentary elections in Georgia, citing significant irregularities and violations such as vote buying and voter intimidation.

These issues, according to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, “contributed to an uneven playing field and undermined public and international trust in the possibility of a fair outcome.”

Miller emphasized the importance of addressing these concerns, stating, “We join calls from international and local observers for a full investigation of all reports of election-related violations.”

He further urged the Georgian authorities to respect the fundamental freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly, highlighting the need for a transparent electoral process.
