The Georgian government has deported 22 foreign nationals as part of a series of coordinated operations targeting illegal migration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Tuesday.

The body said the removals had been carried out by the Migration Department in close coordination with other relevant units, following a series of “complex measures” in recent days.

“A total of 22 individuals have been deported from Georgia, including nationals of Iraq, Russia, Iran, India, Turkey, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Kenya,” the MIA said.

All those deported have been issued entry bans in accordance with Georgian legislation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasised that its Migration Department was responsible for combating illegal migration within the country and was tasked with identifying foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal grounds and initiating their removal.
