Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on Tuesday said it had deported 39 foreign nationals from the country in recent days, following coordinated operations carried out by the Migration Department in cooperation with other relevant units of the ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said the deportations were the result of comprehensive migration control measures aimed at identifying individuals staying in Georgia without a legal basis.
Those deported were citizens of India, Turkey, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Russia, Kenya, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Nigeria, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Jordan and Uzbekistan, according to the ministry.
Under Georgian law, the deported individuals have been banned from re-entering the country, the statement said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that a total of 1,243 people have been deported from Georgia so far this year.
