Georgian police have arrested one person and launched criminal proceedings in absentia against a second suspect over the alleged unauthorised access to a foreign national's bank account and the theft of US$58,000, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
Investigators alleged that the suspects unlawfully gained access to the victim's bank account and misappropriated US$58,000.
One suspect was arrested under a court warrant, while criminal charges have been filed against the second suspect in absentia. Police have declared the individual wanted.
If convicted, the suspects face up to 10 years' imprisonment, according to the Interior Ministry.
