Uzbek President: Ilia II’s memory will live on in hearts of Georgians

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent a message of condolence to Georgian Priem Minister Irakli Kobakhidze following the death of Ilia II.

In his letter, Mirziyoyev expressed deep sorrow over the Patriarch’s passing, describing it as a profound loss.

Mirziyoyev said he was confident the memory of Ilia II would remain forever in the hearts of the Georgian people, praising him as a devoted and dedicated son of his homeland.

He highlighted the Patriarch’s contribution to strengthening religious tolerance, peace and national unity, as well as promoting the ideals of humanism and reinforcing the spiritual foundations of society.

On behalf of himself and the people of Uzbekistan, Mirziyoyev extended his condolences and sympathy to the Georgian leadership and the people of Georgia during what he described as a difficult and sorrowful time.
