Varhelyi’s messages “proof” Georgia on a right path to EU – ruling party sec-gen

The positive messages of Oliver Varhelyi, the EU commissioner for neighbourhood and enlargement, is proof Georgia is on the right path to the bloc, Kakha Kaladze, the ruling Georgian Dream party secretary general said on Wednesday, in response to the EU official’s Tuesday trip. 

Kaladze stressed that Georgia “has achieved success in European integration and the government is actively working to meet the 12-point conditions set by the bloc” for Georgia’s membership candidate status. 

“The government and all branches are ready to implement this plan. At the same time, it was very important to recognize that there are positive changes in the direction of judicial reform. The right steps have been taken from the economic point of view and that Georgia is an advanced country in the fight against corruption”, Kaladze said.  

“The positive messages of the European Commissioner and the expressed readiness for future cooperation in various directions are another proof that we are on the right path and will do everything to protect the interests of Georgia and our population”, he noted. 

Varhelyi called on all political parties in Georgia to work together for the country’s EU integration.
