The Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office has released a video which shows the torture of an inmate under the United National Movement (UNM) government back in 2011 by former law enforcement official Megis Kargava, who was extradited from Ukraine earlier this year, and ex-head of prison No. 8, Aleksandre Mukhadze, who currently is on the run.

The Prosecutor’s Office claims that several videos were seized from Kardava’s flat in Ukraine, stating that they requested it from the country.

Kardava and Mukhadze demanded from the prisoner to admit participation in non-existent terrorist acts.

To receive the fake confirmation, the ex-officials showed the inmate a sexual assault of another prisoner and threatened him with rape, the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The inmate was released from prison in 2013 after the Georgian Dream came to power.

Kardava was extradited from Ukraine on September 17, 2021  after 10 years of being on the run.
