Visits to imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is currently undergoing treatment in the Vivamedi civilian clinic in Tbilisi, may be restricted, – Shota Tutberidze, the third president’s lawyer said on Monday.

He claimed that the restriction may also apply to parliamentarians.

Tutberidze stated that they had requested an adding several people to the list of visitors, including Saakashvili’s father Nikoloz Saakashvili, but the administration of the Vivamedi Clinic responded by presenting a document dated May 30, “which may restrict visitors’ access to prisoners.”

“Visitors will not be allowed to convicts unless there is a negative PCR test result and the consent of the Clinical Director,” Tutberidze suggested.

Saakashvili was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1, 2021 after eight years in political exile.
