NATO supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders. We continue to call on Russia to withdraw the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and withdraw its troops, – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after meeting with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

According to him, one of the issues of today’s meeting with the President of Georgia was security in the Black Sea region.

“Last year we expanded a substantial NATO-Georgia package that helps Georgia reform, strengthen cooperation with allies and continue to contribute to common security.

Our top priorities cover secure communication. At the meeting, the President and I discussed trainings and exercises, strengthening maritime support. Today we also touched upon security in the Black Sea region and the ongoing military construction on the part of Russia. NATO supports Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders. We continue to call on Russia to withdraw the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and withdraw its troops, ”- Jens Stoltenberg said.
