Well-known Georgian actor, Misha Gomiashvili, dies aged 61

A well-known Georgian film and theater actor Misha Gomiashvili died on Monday, aged 61, his friends confirmed on social media.

Gomiashvili was born on March 23, 1961. 

In 1986, he graduated from the Acting Faculty of Shota Rustaveli State University of Theater and Cinema of Georgia. 

Since 1994, he has been a member of the Marjanishvili theater troupe.

Gomiashvili had been a recipient of various domestic and international awards. 

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has expressed his sorrow over the actor’s death.  “I am deeply saddened by the death of a very talented film and theater actor Mikheil Gomiashvili

The love and recognition of the audience is the greatest reward for an actor, which this wonderful artist had so much.I offer my condolences to the family, relatives, friends and colleagues for such a heavy loss”, Garibashvili wrote.
