The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has confirmed that he was at a Yemeni airport when it came under Israeli air strikes.

“One of our plane’s crew members was injured. At least two people were reported killed at the airport,” Dr. Tedros stated.

The strikes, which targeted the international airport in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, also hit two power stations and ports, according to Israeli sources.

This comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Saturday to “destroy the infrastructure of the Houthis” in response to recent Houthi strikes on Israel.

The Houthis, an armed group backed by Iran, control parts of Yemen and have been engaged in a prolonged conflict in the region. Iran has condemned Israel’s actions, calling Thursday’s attacks “an undeniable crime against the heroic and noble people of Yemen.”
