The Wizz Air flight originating from Kutaisi, western Georgia, and bound for Barcelona was forced to return to Kutaisi International Airport. Departing at 12:45, the flight encountered an unexpected deviation from its route over the Black Sea.

Kutaisi International Airport, in collaboration with Wizz Air, has officially cited concerns of potential explosive substances onboard as the cause for the flight’s return to base.

“The decision to return to Kutaisi was made by the flight crew based on information provided by the airline regarding possible explosive substances onboard. All necessary authorities have been alerted and are currently addressing the situation,” the airport’s statement affirmed. As of now, the status of passenger departure remains uncertain.
