Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday claimed his body launched the work to meet the nine conditions for opening accession talks with the European Union last month, shortly after Tbilisi obtained the bloc’s candidacy, ahead of the meeting of the parliamentary majority, opposition and NGOs on the conditions.

Papuashvili stated all issues falling within the Parliament’s jurisdiction regarding the nine steps would be addressed during the meeting. Key topics on the agenda include depolarization, judicial reform, the electoral process, anti-corruption efforts and matters concerning the special investigation service.

“I am optimistic that today’s meeting will be productive. This platform allows everyone to express their viewpoints and opinions freely,” Papuashvili claimed.
