Russian occupiers will not receive any gifts, neither territory nor anything else, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday, emphasising that Ukraine and its allies will continue to increase pressure on Russia to achieve a just peace.
Zelenskyy noted what is now needed is long-term cooperation and tangible results from Europe, both in the short and long term.
“Almost every day, we communicate with leaders to ensure that everyone in Europe maintains a united stance on exerting pressure on Russia, the right kind of pressure. We will give nothing to the aggressor and forget nothing. It is clear that Russia represents a long-term threat,” Zelenskyy said.
The Washington Post reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a conversation with former US President Donald Trump, demanded that Ukraine grant Russia full control over the Donetsk region in exchange for a supposed withdrawal of Russian forces from the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
This is not a new demand from Putin. Moscow has repeatedly called for the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, a proposal that President Zelenskyy has consistently rejected as unacceptable.
