Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday held a phone conversation with US President’s Special Representative Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Zelenskyy described the discussion as very positive, thanking the US officials for their “constructive and intensive” work, their “warm words” and their Christmas greetings to the Ukrainian people.
“We discussed several important details of our work. There are good ideas that could contribute to a joint result and lasting peace. Real security, real recovery, real peace - this is what everyone needs in Ukraine, in the United States, in Europe and among all partners who support us,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian President expressed hope that the Christmas agreements and the ideas discussed by the parties would prove beneficial.
Zelenskyy said Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Rustem Umerov is scheduled to speak again with Witkoff and Kushner later today.
“We believe it is right not to lose a single day or opportunity that could bring us closer to results. Let today’s conversation be another step toward peace,” Zelenskyy said.
He also extended Christmas greetings to US President Donald Trump and his family.
