Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday called for a coordinated international response to Russia’s ongoing attacks and attempts to undermine diplomatic efforts, highlighting the scale of the recent assaults on Ukraine.

“Since the beginning of September, Russia has launched more than 1,300 attack drones against Ukraine, dropped nearly 900 guided aerial bombs, and fired around fifty different types of missiles,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media.

He added that Russian forces struck civilian infrastructure overnight, with emergency services responding to the damage. Attacks in the first week of September affected regions including Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and Lviv, and explosions were heard across much of the country.

Zelenskyy said that Russia continues to prolong the war and seeks to turn diplomacy into a sham, warning that there must be a unified reaction to both destruction and the disregard for civilised dialogue.

“President Trump is absolutely right: to unblock diplomacy, we need effective restrictions on trade in Russian oil and gas,” Zelenskyy said.

The President also called on international partners to increase sanctions, provide Ukraine with weapons, and guarantee that such attacks will not recur in the future.

“Long-term peace requires effective and real security guarantees. We are working to implement every component of reliable future peace. Thanks to all our partners who support Ukraine and our people,” Zelenskyy added.

On the night of September 6, Russian forces launched 91 drones toward Ukraine, 68 of which were intercepted by Ukrainian air defense units.
