Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday warned a prolonged conflict involving Iran could lead to a reduction in US support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said Kyiv urgently needs additional US-made Patriot air defence systems to counter daily Russian strikes, stressing there are currently no effective alternatives for intercepting ballistic missiles.

He also said that, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Ukraine was no longer at the centre of international attention.

“We must acknowledge that today we are not a priority. I fear a prolonged war [in Iran] could lead to a reduction in support for us,” he said.

Zelenskyy added the Patriot systems and missiles previously supplied to Ukraine had already been insufficient, warning that if the conflict with Iran continues, existing aid could be reduced further.
