Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday said that Ukraine was fighting an “evil” comparable to that displayed during China’s recent military parade, stressing that despite the heavy human toll, it would ultimately be defeated.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Uzhhorod with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Zelenskyy noted the demonstration of ballistic missiles at the parade in Beijing was not a matter of history but a reflection of the future.
“Ukraine lost millions of people during the Nazi occupation, and everyone knew that fascism was evil and would be defeated. Today, we are fighting an evil that was also represented at the parade in China. We are fighting against Russia’s position on occupation, and this evil too will be defeated. Sadly, the price is extremely high – it is human lives – and Ukraine is paying the highest cost,” Zelenskyy said.
On September 3, a military parade was held in Beijing attended by Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, featuring China’s latest military equipment and weapons.
