Russia has sharply intensified its large-scale attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities in recent days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday.

The President added the occupiers had launched more than 1,600 attack drones, around 1,200 guided bombs and nearly 70 missiles of various types toward Ukraine just this week.

He noted that Russia continued to target critical infrastructure facilities essential for the normal functioning of civilian life. On Friday, Ukraine faced yet another massive strike, during which Russia used more than 240 drones and five ballistic missiles, hitting seven regions.

“Unfortunately, there are casualties in Sloviansk and the Chernihiv region. I extend my condolences to their families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that Ukraine was actively coordinating with international partners to further strengthen its air-defence capabilities.

“The priority is clear: more air-defence systems and missiles, more support for our defenders. All agreements must be implemented faster,” Zelenskyy stated, thanking all partners assisting Ukraine’s defense.

On Saturday, Russian forces carried out a large-scale missile attack on energy infrastructure in several regions. Power generation, distribution and transmission facilities in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions were hit. Thermal power plants across the country were also damaged, forcing Ukraine’s nuclear power stations to reduce output.

Overnight Russia launched another strike on Ukrainian territory, with the main target being the city of Kremenchuk in the Poltava region.
