Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday said that Russia had launched one of its most intense waves of air attacks, using around 1,500 attack drones, 1,170 guided aerial bombs and more than 70 missiles against Ukraine in just the past week.

Zelenskyy added Russia continued to target residential buildings and energy infrastructure, carrying out strikes across multiple regions almost every night.

“Almost every night, Russia bombs our people with various types of weapons. Since last night, strikes have been carried out on Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Odesa. Unfortunately, there are casualties. My condolences to everyone who lost loved ones in these attacks”, Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that Moscow’s main goal remained to inflict maximum harm on civilians and disrupt Ukraine’s critical energy systems as winter approaches.

“This week alone, Russia used nearly 1,500 attack drones, 1,170 guided aerial bombs and more than 70 missiles to strike peaceful communities. Ordinary residential buildings, civilian infrastructure and the energy sector have all been targeted”, he noted.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to rescue workers, energy specialists, medical staff and emergency services responding to the aftermath of the attacks.

He also highlighted ongoing cooperation with Ukraine’s international partners to ensure reliable energy support through the coming winter.

“We have already reached concrete agreements with our partners. The United States, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Spain and the European Commission are already supporting us through contributions or vital equipment for the Energy Support Fund. I thank everyone standing with Ukraine”, Zelenskyy said.
