President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia has yet to respond meaningfully to the proposed 30-day ceasefire, while Ukraine hopes that US pressure will force Moscow to end the war. He stated that Kyiv remains committed to a swift peace process and is ready to play its part in reaching an agreement.
Following a meeting between Ukrainian and US representatives in Saudi Arabia, Zelenskyy welcomed the resumption of US military aid and intelligence-sharing. The Ukrainian delegation outlined Kyiv’s key positions, and in response, the US expressed readiness to organize technical monitoring of ceasefire compliance on the front lines. Discussions also included security guarantees and joint steps with European partners.
“Unfortunately, for more than a day, Russia has not provided a meaningful response to the proposals. This shows again that Moscow wants to prolong the war and delay peace as long as possible. We hope US pressure will be enough to force Russia to stop the war,” Zelenskyy stated.
