On the night of February 1, Russia launched missile strikes, attack drones, and air bombs on Ukraine, causing significant casualties and damage. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the situation on social media, emphasizing the urgent need for greater support from international partners.
According to Zelenskyy, a missile strike on a residential building in Poltava killed three people and injured ten others, including children. The attacks also caused destruction in Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions.
“As of now, we know of six injured. One person was killed in a drone attack in Kharkiv, while two others lost their lives in Sumy due to Russian strikes. My condolences go out to their families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy stated.
He stressed that each such attack by Russia proves Ukraine’s urgent need for stronger support to defend itself against ongoing aggression.
“Every air defense system, every missile defense system means saving lives. It is crucial that our partners take action, fulfill our agreements, and increase pressure on Russia,” Zelenskyy urged.
