Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday said Russia’s planned spring offensive campaign had already failed, noting Russian forces were currently unable to advance with military equipment and were attempting only small-scale infiltration.

Speaking to journalists, the President said Russian troops continued offensive movements but had not achieved meaningful progress.

“The spring campaign planned by the Russians has failed. They were unable to advance. They are carrying out offensive movements, but everything is the same — infiltration attempts and so on. They cannot achieve anything with their equipment — we are burning it,” Zelenskyy said.

He said the occupying forces had not launched a large-scale operation, although they continued attempts to act on different sections of the front line. He said Ukrainian soldiers were successfully repelling these efforts.

At the same time, Zelenskyy stressed that Russia’s current failures did not mean it had abandoned plans to continue its aggression.

The President said there was information indicating that Russian forces would attempt to continue offensive operations in the directions of Zaporizhzhia, Pokrovsk and Huliaipole.

Zelenskyy also noted intelligence services had shown him Russian maps outlining territories Moscow plans to capture between 2026 and 2027.

“This shows that they are clearly not thinking about stopping the war. Why do we react to statements by certain leaders that Vladimir Putin wants to end the war? He does not want it. Otherwise, he would have different plans. Money should be spent on increasing funding for infrastructure, not on increasing the production of missiles,” Zelenskyy said.
