Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported overnight that Russia launched a new large-scale assault on Ukraine, involving nearly 300 drones-most of them Shahed drones-18 ballistic missiles, and seven cruise missiles.

The main targets were energy facilities, including power generation plants and substations, though residential and civilian infrastructure also suffered significant damage. The attacks affected Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.

Zelenskyy said a missile strike on a postal terminal in the Kharkiv region village of Korotych, which had no military purpose, killed four people. He added that in the Kyiv region, several hundred thousand households remain without power, with emergency services fully mobilized.

The president emphasized that each attack underscored the need for continued international support, particularly in air defense. “Air defense systems require daily missile supplies, especially in winter. The world can respond to this terror with new aid packages. We hope for accelerated deliveries from the US and Europe,” he said.

Zelenskyy also noted that Russia must understand that cold weather will not help it win the war.
