Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday announced personnel changes in the Air Force units responsible for defending against Russian Shahed drones, aiming to strengthen small-scale air defence systems in the country’s most vulnerable areas.
“The small air defence component, specifically against attack drones, must be significantly more effective to prevent the current problems,” Zelenskyy said.
He noted that the frontline situation remains uneven, with some areas well-fortified while others require expanded defensive measures.
Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is reportedly already working on the issue, and Air Force Commander Yurii Ihnat has been given additional directives to optimise air defence operations.
Zelenskyy expressed confidence that Ukraine possesses the necessary resources and expertise to address these vulnerabilities.
“Everything that works effectively in one area or at one level should be applied everywhere results are currently insufficient,” he stated.
