Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday announced Ukraine was preparing for multilateral peace negotiations in January, involving the United States, European countries and Ukraine, while also confirming readiness to meet with “the Russians”.

"We believe that in January there is an opportunity for a joint meeting of the leaders of Europe, the United States and Ukraine. And we have raised the issue of a meeting with the Russians. I told [US] President [Donald] Trump and European leaders and I am confirming it again now: 'I am ready for any format of a meeting with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. I am not afraid of any format of our meeting. The main thing is that the Russians are not afraid'," Zelenskyy said.

He added that a package of documents has already been prepared, which could be ready for signing in January, depending on the political will of all parties involved.

"There are documents that will definitely be ready for signing in January. This depends on the capabilities and the willingness of the parties to sign them," Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian President highlighted that Kyiv planned to take diplomatic steps starting in January and expected readiness from other parties to make substantive decisions.
