Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday announced Ukrainian military personnel have joined international consultations regarding the future functioning of the Strait of Hormuz.

Zelenskyy emphasised the importance of safe navigation as a global priority, noting that Ukraine has relevant experience in protecting the Black Sea.

“We need the world to recognise this,” he said.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is coordinating with European and Middle Eastern partners on security and supply matters. He described the collaboration as part of a broader strategy, in which Ukraine exports security expertise while receiving resources essential for domestic resilience and energy security.

The President highlighted that Middle Eastern countries currently in conflict require urgent assessment and response.

“Ukrainian expertise has been deployed and this has been acknowledged by all parties. As a result, long-term agreements on security cooperation have been established,” he said.

He further noted that the coming weeks will focus on joint production, defence modernisation, funding programmes and coordination of security efforts with European partners. Zelenskyy also mentioned interest from Asian countries, calling for immediate engagement on related requests.

Zelenskyy concluded that Ukraine’s priority remains maintaining continuous and effective defensive capabilities.
