Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved a new 40-day operation by the Security Service of Ukraine designed to increase pressure on Russia and encourage an end to the war.
“I approved the Security Service’s 40-day operation aimed at influencing the aggressor state in order to stimulate the end of the war,” Zelenskyy said.
The President said the Security Service has demonstrated some of the highest levels of effectiveness in defending Ukrainian positions in recent months through the use of various types of unmanned aerial systems.
Zelenskyy also highlighted the performance of the body’s special operations unit, Alpha, stating that it leads in the destruction of Russian military personnel and equipment.
The Ukrainian Security Service has been behind several high-profile operations during the war, including Operation Spiderweb, which targeted Russian military airfields and resulted in the destruction of strategic bombers.
