The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Sunday confirmed the liberation of the villages of Arkhangelsk and Mirolyubovka,  part of the currently annexed Kherson region.

In a video address to Ukrainians, Zelensky thanked the soldiers of the 129th brigade of his native Krivoy Rog for the liberation of these settlements. Yaroslav Yanushevich, head of the Kherson District Military Administration, reported on the discharge of the territories.

However, the official information of the Southern Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not indicate the specific directions of the Kherson region, where the Ukrainian military had achieved success.

The command only noted that they had partial success, on Sunday, rocket-artillery units completed more than 340 fire missions and destroyed 40 Russian soldiers, two tanks and seven units of other equipment. Only one specific district was named – Berislav, where, according to the Southern Command, the Ukrainian military shot down an enemy Ka-52 helicopter.

The town of Arkhangelsk is located in the Berylsavi district, the liberation of which was announced by the President of Ukraine and the head of the district military administration.

The Southern Operational Command appealed to the Ukrainians not to spread even the good news about the actions of the military units in advance, as this might endanger both Ukrainian soldiers and civilians in the settlements where the military operation was in progress.

Ukraine’s defense forces, in addition to the south of the country, continue to attack in the east as well. It became known on Saturday that the Ukrainian military liberated the city of Liman in the Donetsk region, where the positions of Russian units were attacked for several weeks.

One day earlier, on September 30, Russian President Putin announced the annexation of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. This was preceded by the so-called “de-facto” elections held on September 23-27 by the pro-Russian, de facto administrations of these regions of Ukraine to join Russia.
