Zelensky awards Georgian PM during Crimea Platform Forum

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with an Order of First Degree for Merit during the Crimea Platform Forum in Kyiv today. 

 

Garibashvili participated in the forum, which aims to consolidate the international support against the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the region, along with 40 other foreign leaders.

 

In his speech Garibashvili condemned the Russian occupation of Georgian and Ukrainian territories and ‘horrible actions by the country against the people of Georgia and Ukraine.’ 

He stated that despite challenges the countries will go ahead. 

 

Garibashvili stated that the Russian occupation of Georgian territories back in 2008 threatened the whole European security and the later invasion of the Ukrainian territories was proof of this. 

 

European Council President Charles Michel stated at the forum that ‘Crimea is Ukraine’ and that ‘Ukraine is not alone.’ 

 

Zelensky stated that it would be welcomed if Russia will also join the platform ‘to take part in finding ways to improve its rough, historic mistake.’

Also today Zelensky’s decree was released which limits access to various Russian webpages. 

 

Garibashvili, who arrived in Ukraine on August 21 on an official visit, will return to Tbilisi later today.
