Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday said the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy seemed “interested and motivated” to see unrest in Georgia, in response to the Ukrainian official’s address to demonstrators in Tbilisi last week, protesting the controversial foreign agents bill cited as a “Russian law” by the domestic opposition and the international community.

In his interview with Imedi TV, Garibashvili also slammed other Ukrainian officials and advised them “to look after your country first”, adding “we will look after ours”.

“Let me say in a few words that a very difficult situation exists in Ukraine. Greater escalation is expected and Ukraine is preparing certain counter-attacks, as far as we know. Tough fights are most likely ahead in the Donetsk region at large and after claiming Bakhmut, the situation will become more complicated and escalation will grow”, Garibashvili said.

“You mentioned the address made by Zelenskyy. Now, when a person at war finds time to comment on a destructive rally of several thousand people, it is clear evidence that he is vested and interested in something to happen here and cause a change.” he added.

Garibashvili also praised his country’s provision of “larger humanitarian aid for Ukraine than any other foreign countries” and “ensuring support in all international formats”, adding “I wish Ukraine peace and the completion of war in a timely manner”.
