Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has called on Georgian businesses to become more actively involved in Kyrgyzstan's economy, following the signing of a series of bilateral agreements during talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Bishkek.

Speaking at a joint briefing, Japarov said trade and economic cooperation had been one of the main focuses of the discussions and highlighted what he described as positive momentum in bilateral relations.

"As a result of the negotiations, a number of important documents were signed. I am confident that today's agreements will further strengthen Kyrgyz-Georgian relations and contribute to the wellbeing of our peoples," Japarov said.

The Kyrgyz president noted that both sides discussed practical measures to increase trade turnover, expand direct business contacts and launch new joint investment projects.

Japarov said Kyrgyzstan is maintaining stable economic growth, implementing reforms and creating favourable conditions for businesses and investors.

In that context, he encouraged Georgian companies to participate more actively in sectors including transport and logistics, agriculture, construction, the digital economy and tourism.

Particular attention was given to plans to connect the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project with Georgia's port infrastructure, which Japarov described as a priority area of bilateral cooperation.

He said enhanced connectivity between Central Asia and the South Caucasus could create new opportunities for trade and transit.

The Kyrgyz president also highlighted cultural, educational and humanitarian cooperation as an important component of relations between the two countries.

According to Japarov, both sides expressed interest in expanding exchange programmes in education, science, culture, youth policy and sport.

He also invited Georgian athletes to participate in the Sixth World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan later this year.

Japarov thanked Georgia for supporting Kyrgyzstan's international initiatives on the sustainable development of mountain regions and reaffirmed his country's commitment to continued cooperation on the issue.
