Former President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili expressed deep concern over the state of democracy in her country following a meeting with Romanian President Nicușor Dan, as confirmed in her post on X.

“Important meeting with @NicusorDanRO. I conveyed the alarming truth: elections were manipulated, freedoms are being suppressed and the regime is dragging the country towards Russia. Georgia’s European path must be defended by the EU. The Black Sea strategy is at stake,” she wrote.

Zourabichvili, a vocal critic of the ruling Georgian Dream, warned that current trends in Georgia—particularly election interference and suppression of fundamental freedoms—are steering the nation away from Europe and into Russia’s sphere of influence.
