Zugdidi bank attacker in 2020, Badri Esebua arrested

Georgian law enforcers have arrested Badri Esebua, a Zugdidi Bank of Georgia Bank attacker in the country’s western Samegrelo region in October  2020, who escaped with half a million dollars. 

The interior ministry said the offender was arrested in Samegrelo region and he faces up to 15 years in prison for coercion, illegal purchase, possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition, organising a terrorist act and taking hostages. 

His brother, Bidzina  Esebua, was also convicted for illegal purchase and  possession of firearms and was sentenced to four years in prison in 2021.
