Opposition leader Japaridze released after arrest on Chavchavadze Avenue

Zurab Girchi Japaridze, a leader of the Coalition for Change, was released after being arrested early this morning on Chavchavadze Avenue. The arrest followed a confrontation between police forces and protesters.

Japaridze shared his release on social media, posting a photo from his car with the message, “I am outside.” His lawyer, Vakho Baramashvili, stated that Japaridze had been chased for a kilometer and a half by special forces before his detention. The incident has drawn attention amid ongoing protests in Tbilisi.
