Leaders of the Coalition for Change on Friday said the recent release of opposition leader Giorgi Vashadze could strengthen political processes in Georgia.

Zurab Japaridze, one of the coalition’s leaders, said Vashadze should be given time to adapt after his seven-month imprisonment.

“I believe Giorgi Vashadze’s involvement will strengthen the process. At the same time, I think he should be given a few days to spend with his family and adjust,” Japaridze said.

He added that while Vashadze is now speaking publicly and giving comments, transitioning from prison can be disorienting. “When you come out, it is a somewhat unusual feeling. There is a sense similar to euphoria, and it takes a little time to settle,” he said.

Vashadze, leader of the opposition party Strategy Agmashenebeli, has indicated that he supports unity and intends to participate actively in ongoing political processes.
