Zurab Kadagidze, a member of the People’s Power movement, established by the ruling Georgian Dream party former members, on Sunday said that Georgia’s current stability and economic indicators are the result of a pragmatic foreign policy and resistance to external pressure, warning that without such an approach the country would be facing destruction and economic collapse similar to Ukraine’s.

In a social media post commenting on current economic and political trends, Kadagidze stated that the beginning of 2026 is clear proof of Georgia’s stable development. He stressed that the country’s achievements are not accidental but stem from responsible governance that prioritises national interests.

According to Kadagidze, UN forecasts project Georgia’s economic growth at 5.4 percent, higher than Ukraine’s 2.3 percent and Moldova’s 2.5 percent, which he described as “the difference between war and peace”. He also pointed to the National Bank’s record foreign currency reserves of $6.16 billion as a financial shield against external pressure and economic shocks.

Kadagidze highlighted Georgia’s international standing, noting that the Georgian passport ranks 33rd globally, which he said demonstrates that defending sovereignty strengthens, rather than isolates, the country.

“Had it not been for a pragmatic foreign policy and protection from external pressure, instead of record indicators we would be facing ruins and economic collapse like Ukraine,” Kadagidze wrote, adding that Georgia’s choice was to build its own state rather than be drawn into others’ wars.
